Scripture Union Daily Guide 5th June 2026 – Outline
David, overwhelmed with God’s promises, humbly came and sat before God. He praised and thanked God for His greatness and goodness in response to His gracious promises through Prophet Nathan. David expressed humility by asking rhetorical questions, such as “Who am I…and what is my house?”. He also referred to himself as, “Your servant.”
His humility may be a result of realizing his humble background and how God had brought him to a moment of peace, greatness, and glory. He thank God for His favour in the present and for the past actions, such as, the deliverance from Egypt, the conquest of Canaan, and future promises (vs.18-24).
Unlike David, many of us are filled with pride because of our privileged positions and possessions as if we attained them through our merit or by our power. David thankfully accepted God’s promises to him, and earnestly prayed for their fulfillment. His trust in God gave him the courage to pray (vs.25-29).
So what? Let us humbly remember our past background and acknowledge the grace of God for who, where, and what we are while trusting Him for more blessings.
